Hello to all my friends,

First off I want to thank all my
fellow vets on this very important day and don't forget that the real heroes
are the ones who don't come home.
We are enjoying a two day layover in
Beaufort, SC, admittedly one of my favorite stops. First off though I have to
tell you the story of a very unusual experience we had Friday morning. I had
spent the night just north of Charleston at Isle of Palms. In order to make a
bridge just north of Charleston that locked down at 0700 for those unfortunate
people that have to go to work that time of the morning I had to leave before
dawn. As we progressed down the river towards the bridge and it had began
to just get light I caught the shadow of something, thought it was a crab pot
float, on the right side of the boat.
When I turned around to see what it was
I
saw
a
deer swimming behind the boat, just about the size of this one judging by his
rack. I could just imagine what my insurance company would say if I told them
my boat was damaged when I struck a deer. Fortunately we were seconds apart and
both managed to proceed with caution. I'm sure he was just a surprised to see
me as I was him. Like I say never a dull moment.
Then I had a wonderful visit on the
occasion of Veterans day by Joe and JoAnn Barber and their daughter JoEllen
yesterday.

Joe and JoAnn and I served in the
Air Force together. Both were C-130 flight engineers. They drove down from
Charlotte, SC to spend the day with Ruby and I. It is always good to see old
friends, especially Air Force buddies.
Today we will watch some football
and leave tomorrow for lower Georgia where we will leave the boat and meet up with my daughter and
family for a Thanksgiving in the mountains north of Atlanta.
