Hello from Southport, NC. Yep finally made it North Carolina. Actually spent Wed night in a marina, Marsh Harbor Marina,  on the Little River. I called on the radio, no one answered so I went in and tied off on the fuel dock, I really needed fuel. I could see no one was there so I called the phone # at the fuel dock and left a message. Another boat, Zaya,  that I had anchored with a few times called on the radio and I answered him that there was no one here but come on in, the waters fine. Anyway we finally got to introduce ourselves and both spent the night. When we left the next morning we still had not seen anybody and I ended up buying 5 gal of fuel from Zaya, so I could make it to the next marina.

Pulled into Southport and decided to spend a few days and do a little maintenance. The engine has been wanting to run hotter than normal a higher RPMs and I thought the impeller might be a little worn. Turns out the belt had a big chunk gone out of it and was slipping, real bad. The alternator belt also did not look to healthy. I remembered the dockmaster had mentioned that they had a Napa Store in town. So took a bike trip to town. I had never been here before. A real small town, no grocery store, but a lot of Arts and Crafts shops, kind of like OS. It did have a Napa and they had both belts so I was happy. Changed the impeller and belts and I'm reasonably sure fixed my overheating problem.

Gave the ole boat a good cleaning, Ruby got a litter change, and in-between managed to read a book. Head out in the morning up the Cape Fear River for Wrightsville Beach, about 35 miles. Will probably spend a few days there. I stopped there before and it is a good bicycle town. From there we will head to Milehammock Bay to anchor and then to Beaufort, NC and another rest stop. Beaufort is one of the best stops along the waterway.

I just thought I'd pass along what I found out today. The life span of a taste bud is 10 days.
