Hello from Mobjack Bay, on the Western Bank of the Chesapeake Bay.

I had an enjoyable visit in Portsmouth with Tom, Donna and their neighbors the  Ransone's Charlie, Lori, Lil Charlie and Claire. There were many  birthday parties including one double that lasted four days. Lots of crabs and beer and many enjoyable dinners and fond memories. Not to mention the pound cake Lori baked for me before I left. Believe it or not in between the socializing I did manage to get some work done on the boat. I had a new furler system installed for the genoa (headsail for you non-sailor types), replaced the engine motor mounts, reworked the generator, rebuilt the head etc. I also managed a trip to Ohio for a week to visit family.

but.............the time has come to get back on the water. Maybe it was the traffic, too many cars, not enough tunnels or just an urge to explore the Bay and all its beauty. I pulled into the Severn River on the southern bank of Mobjack Bay, wandered down the southwestern branch, found a spot and just dropped the hook. Decided to stay here today to catch up on emails and clean up the boat a little. Weather permitting will head further north tomorrow for the Piankatank River or Great Wicomico and hide out for the weekend.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Charlie and Lori for offering a former stranger a place to keep my boat while in Portsmouth and all the good food and good times at the Ransone house.

and to Tom and Donna thanks for making me feel so welcome in your home and all the great food and a cold beer every now and then.

I look forward to seeing all of you in the fall.
