Hello from Reedsville, Va. Nothing like traveling from one major thriving city to another. Reedsville pop. 500. One thing about
Deltaville for only a thousand citizens it boasts having both a West Marine and a Boat US store. Even Biloxi can't top that.
Pulled into Reedsville and dropped the hook up the Eastern branch of Cockrell Creek. While I was setting anchor, 2nd try, I got
a call on the radio from the Reedsville (self appointed) "harbormaster". He suggested that I drop my anchor and let it sit for awhile before I backed it down. Maybe have a toddy. He said the bottom is soft and it may take awhile to grab. He also told me where I could tie up the dinghy in if I needed to run to town.
So the next day I went into town. What a neat place. All the houses on main street are close or over a hundred years old. I had lunch
at the Crazy Crab, founded in 1999, probably the newest place around, and strolled up town to the "Fisherman's Museum" located
on the other end of Main Street, 1/2 mile. Tell them you are from Biloxi and guess what, I got a personal tour. They have 192 volunteers,
that work the Museum, about 1/2 the towns population. I guess the rest are out fishing. Their main purpose in life is Menhaden Fishing.
In fact the only remaining plant is owned by Omega, which I believe also runs the Pogie plant in MP. Really a pleasant place to stop.
Today we pulled anchor and headed for the Solmons, Md. I guess U might say we are finally out of Virginnie. We will hang around here
until after the weekend and continue our trek north. We are still looking for that cooler weather. I do know a place where we can get in the water without having to fight the "sea nettles".
"Goin where the weather suits my clothes"
