Hello from beautiful downtown Baltimore. Really a nifty place. We got up Sunday morning, after a Saturday of Jazzing it up at the Jazz Fest in Chestertown. The Joe Byrd Trio was one of the groups featured. Joe is Charlie Byrd's brother and recorded over 50 albums with his brother. Another artist Steve Bundick was pretty awesome on the sax with his band Steven B. & Friends.  Went up town got a sandwich, found a park bench facing the River with the music in the background had lunch and did some reading. A good ole laid back day. Sunday morning temp was about 60 degrees. With a cup of coffee in hand we started down the River with a ebb tide. For the first time since I left in April the sun felt good. By 10 a.m. we had heard 2 calls on the VHF for "Maydays" due to sinking boats. A typical day on the Chesapeake Bay on the weekend.

We drifted into Baltimore's inner harbor by about 5 p.m. and dropped the hook in the anchorage area next to the World Trade Center right in the heart of Baltimore. I figured I give Ruby a little excitement for a night. Lots of noise and lights to get her attention. She laid up on the deck just looking around until about 4 in the morning.

Today we pulled into the Henderson Wharf Marina where we will stay until Friday. The Southbound Cruisers Rendezvous starts tomorrow. They are expecting about 200 boats, mainly people like myself spending their summer in the bay. It is just a get together to celebrate being here, since somebody has too it might as well be me. I will post the web page and pictures of Baltimore later today.
