Hello from beautiful downtown  Beaufort , NC  (pronounced Bo-fort). We had a pleasant day on the water, despite the fact we left out of Belhaven at 0630. It was the only way to make it to Beaufort with daylight left to find the anchorage. The down side of winter travel, short days and early rises. We may sleep in tomorrow, just because we can. If we leave tomorrow we will probably head to Swansboro and stop over there at Dudley's Marina. We stopped on the way up and I would like to do some more exploring and they also provide a car to run errands if we need it.

I met my opposite the other day at Alligator River marina. A little ole lady, I would have to guess mid 60's traveling by herself in a 26 foot power boat. I heard about her from a gentleman who came in to use the phone line in the laundry to ck email. She asked him if he would tighten her alternator belt because she was not strong enough to do it herself. He told me she had more oil in her bilge than he had ever seen in a boat before.Anyway they parked her next to me in the marina and she could not have weighed 75 pounds soaking wet. From upstate NY and makes the trip to Florida every year. She has a pair of inline Chevy 6 cyl engines with Mercrazy outdrives. When an engine gives out she goes to the junk yard and gets another. Does a lot of the work herself she says. When she cranked them up the next morning, with the aid of starter fluid, they actually sounded pretty good. Anyway she was definitely an interesting character. Of course some people probably say the same thing about me.

Shot this picture of Sundays sunset on the Pungo River just before the evening meal.
