Hello from sunny Carolina Beach. We made the trip to Wrightsville Beach arriving after dark last night. I was a little reluctant to keep going after dark but did not have much choice since there was no where else to stop. The channel into the anchorage at Wrightsville Beach is not lit but has day marks and with the computer navigation program it was a lot easier to run at night. You just have put a lot of faith in the computer. But since I left I have found it to be on the mark 99.99% of the time.
The worst thing that could happen would be to listen to Ruby howl if we ran aground and spent the night on a sandbar.
Anyway we slept in, stress relief, and made the short 13 mile run to Carolina Beach this afternoon to position us for the next days run. Southport(s) ( my next planned stop) marinas are full, they have a fishing tournament this week, so we will have to bypass Southport and make it to Calabash which is a 50+ mile run. With the short days and currents 2+ knots in this area we need all 10 hours of daylight to make 50 miles.
Also the area I am going into has poor phone service so don't be surprised if I disappear for a day or two.
I have updated our position and posted pictures from today's journey on the web site. Click on the link below
