Today we find ourselves in Belhaven, NC waiting
on a cold front to pass through later this afternoon. We made our trip through
the Dismal Swamp and into Elizabeth City, NC the first day.
The next day we went on to the Alligator River
Marina and spent Wednesday night. The next morning Ruby went for her morning
stroll on the dock. When I started the engine she suddenly got cold paws and
went into hiding under the pier. I finally coaxed her out and once underway she
curled into a ball and slept most of the day. I can vouch for her that it just
takes some getting used to traveling again after sitting most of the summer.
Thursday we had strong west winds that made for
a good sail down the Alligator River and into the Pungo River to Belhaven. Our
next leg takes us across Pamlico Sound and we will wait for some more favorable
weather to make the crossing. Looks like Sunday will be best with NW winds.
