We are sitting here at anchor in Georgetown, SC as we
continue our trek south seeking that warmer weather we all cherish. But let me
back up a little. After leaving Carolina Beach we headed to Southport, NC
only to find that two bridges in our path were closed for repairs. So we
pulled into the Southport marina and spent 4 days there. We got mail and
ordered some new belts and other parts for the engine. Last night we stopped
over in Myrtle Beach at the Barefoot Landing, its an outlet mall, with free
dockage. I did go in and have some prime rib. Ruby made a new friend,
Christy. She is traveling with her brother and mom & dad on a
trawler. I first met them in Belhaven when they were in the slip next to me.
They are from Pennsylvania and are in the process of moving to a warmer climate
to live. But first they are taking a year to travel down the waterway and
on to Georgetown in the Bahamas for the winter. After a
year mom said time to find jobs and settle in somewhere south of South
Carolina. Yesterday Christy found Ruby. She told me she had to give up her
kitty when they left and she rubbed on Ruby for about 10 minutes. You
could tell she missed her kitty.
We will probably leave Sunday, next stop Beaufort, SC. Should
take about 3 days.
