For all of you fine folks out there that thought that we had either forgotten about you or fallen off the end of the earth, well you are out of luck. We are still here, wherever here is. After a long winter in the Keys, mainly due to prolonged but  minor health problems, I was cleared by the doc and have headed north. Ruby was not to happy, she had begun to enjoy the peaceful tranquility of Island life. This is a Kat that never even went ashore. She did manage a couple of dinghy rides to no where. Probably only because the Kat next door was constantly jumping in the dinghy and riding around.

We departed Marathon Saturday morning and sailed to Key Largo where we anchored for the night. I had a hard time getting an anchor to set, too much grass, and didn't sleep to well as the wind was piping up during the night. Sunday we headed out for Miami to beat out a front which came through today. We anchored near the Marine Stadium, where they once had the concerts, Miami by the Bay with Jimmy Buffett comes to mind. Anyway we took the day off, three days travel in a row is hard when you've been taking it easy all winter. Weather permitting we will continue our trek north tomorrow maybe making Lake Worth if we can. From there it is on to Ft Pierce and Vero Beach.

Our final destination this summer is Palatka, FL, 60 miles down the St Johns River, to put the boat in storage to dry out over the summer. Ruby and I will eventually be heading for Biloxi to stay with my daughter and her family for at least a good part of the summer.

We are getting an itch to maybe head further south, down the Mexico way. Ruby is brushing up on her Spanish. I guess kats speak Spanish?
