What: A day cruise from Biloxi, MS to Monticello, MS thru a few of the lesser visited cities of south central Mississippi, (Including the Tail of the Lizard - MS 587), & finishing up with a celebration of the Holidays by participating in a small town Christmas Parade!

When: December 2nd, 2006 (Saturday)

What Time: Meet at the Pilot Truck Stop/Service Station at 11:00 AM(fuel up, get your radio set up, etc). Station is located on the north side of I-10 at the Cedar Lake Exit (Exit #44). This exit is East of the "110" and West of Woolmarket. Departure is 11:30 AM sharp.

Will there be Lunch: Yes! MSGCCC member, Sharon Breazeale, is throwing a holiday cookout at her house just outside of Prentiss, MS. So we will group back up in the AMSOUTH Bank parking lot after running the Lizard and Caravan 15 miles to Sharon s house.


What Should I Bring: Warm Clothes. Holiday decorations for your car. A Santa Hat! THROWS - candy and mardi gras beads are a MUST HAVE item this year. A camera if you like, snacks/beverages for the road (if you eat and drink in your Corvette), sunscreen if you travel with the top down/out, a full tank of gas, and a bit of spending money for snacks at our pit stops.

Who is Invited: As far as I'm concerned, anyone who has a passion for the road, their Corvette, and places off the beaten path are always welcome. (Friend's Corvettes are welcome too!)

How do we get HOME in the Dark: Going East on Hwy 84 in Monticello, MS will return you to Hwy 49. Go south on Hwy 49 and you should be in Hattiesburg, MS in less than an hour. From here you can take Hwy 49 back to Gulfport or hop on I-59.



RECAP:

Leave Biloxi, MS (Pilot Truck Stop, Exit 44) at 11:30 am.
Stop in Wiggins, MS at the McDonald's for pit stop #1.
Catch Hwy 13 over thru Lumberton, MS and stopping in Columbia, MS at the Kangaroo Gas Station on the corner of Hwy 13 and Hwy 98.(map below)
Continue on to Red Bluff for our third stop. Here we will stretch our legs, take some pics, and have a brief driver's meeting before continueing up the Tail of the Lizard.
Arrive in Monticello, MS and regroup at the AMSOUTH Bank(Hwy 587, Tail of the Lizard, intersects Hwy 84 in Monticello, MS. Go left on Hwy 84 and you will see AMSOUTH Bank up on your left.).
Then we continue the caravan out to Sharon Breazeale's house for an afternoon cookout around 1:30pm.
Fill our tummies and catch up with eachother while telling stories of our experience coming up the Lizard.
We must be back in Monticello, MS around 4:00pm for staging and preparation. Once we are in line we will decorate our cars and then cruise in the Monticello Christmas Parade.
